The various club championship are reaching their conclusions around the country, with superb action from Cork to Donegal over the weekend.
In the Cork SHC, Sarsfields edged city slickers Glen Rovers 2-14 to 0-17 at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, with Cian McCarthy scoring 1-1 in a thrilling encounter.
Last year’s beaten club football finalists, Nemo Rangers, moved into the final of the Cork SFC after a 2-10 to 1-8 win over Duhallow at Pairc Ui Rinn.
Barry O’Driscoll scored 2-2 for the Capwell outfit and they remain on course for a remarkable four-in-a-row.
However, they will have to overcome a stern test from either Ilen Rovers or Douglas first after a dramatic draw in the other semi-final.
The sides finished on 0-12 apiece but Rovers let a three-point lead slip in the dying minutes to allow the City side to force a replay.
In the Galway SFC, Cortoon Shamrocks qualified for their first ever county final with a 0-12 to 1-8 win over NUIG at Tuam Stadium.
Cortoon await the winners of the replay between Corofin and Caherlistrane after the two sides played out a 0-14 to 1-11 draw in the other semi-final.
In the Tipperary SHC, Munster club champions Loughmore Castleiney beat Killenaule 2-13 to 2-10 in Cashel on Saturday.
In the afternoon’s other encounter, Cappawhite beat Eire Og Anacarthy 1-17 to 0-16.
In the Donegal SFC, defending champions St Eunan’s hammered Four Masters 2-12 to 1-6, while the other semi-final saw Termon beat Gaoth Dobhair 0-9 to 0-8.
In Louth, Newtown Blues beat St Bride’s 1-12 to 0-11 to set up a final date with Mattock Rangers, who beat Glyde Rangers 0-11 to 0-8.
The Roscommon county final will be contested by Padraig Pearses and the winners of the replay between Western Gales and Castlerea St Kevin’s.
In the Offaly SFC, Rhode beat Gracefield 3-13 to 1-10 and will now face Tullamore in the county final after they beat Ballycumber 3-9 to 1-3.
In the Laois SHC, champions Camross and Portlaoise moved into the last four of the competition after wins over Ballinakill and Castletown.
In the Monaghan SHC, Castleblaney won the title for the fifth time in a row with a 0-17 to 0-10 win over Clontibret, while the Monaghan SHC final between Carrickmore and Dungannon produced a draw.
The Clare SHC saw Wolfe Tones crash out at the group stages despite a 3-17 to 0-5 win over Ballyea. Newmarket-on-Fergus, Inagh-Kilnamona and Kilmaley all progressed to the quarter-finals, while Clarecastle have to beat Clooney-Quin to advance.
Adare advanced in the Limerick SHC after a 1-11 to 0-13 win over Western Gaels on Saturday, while Ahane, Kilmallock and Garyspillane also progressed to the last four. In the Limerick SFC, Ian Ryan fired 0-6 from play as St Senan’s moved into the semi-finals.
